Cypress Semiconductor Corp. today announced that its development for aerospace
applications, the three heavyweight CMOS image sensor by the European Space
Agency (EAS) to carry on Proba-2 satellite successfully launched on November 2.
Cypress's new HAS2 image sensor designed for high-precision Odometer
Correction Kit star tracking and designed by Italy's SELEX Galileo's design
selected for the new planet tracker. HAS2 image sensor is also used scientific
equipment, a super-ultraviolet telescope to observe the corona. In addition,
Cypress's STAR-250 image sensor is also the Dutch company TNO for its new
digital sun sensor. HAS2 and STAR-250 devices are located in the Belgian
Ministry of Cypress's image sensor business development for the EAS. Cypress
also announced that its commercial version of the HAS-2 has also been available,
and announced a series of anti-radiation Cypress STAR latest image sensor. The
device has a 1024 x 1024 effective pixels (18 ?m) and supports non-destructive
readout chip and multi-window. HAS2 sensor for space applications, in line with
EAS, European Space Components Coordination (ESCC) standard. Cypress in the
November 3 to 5 days in Stuttgart, Germany at the VISION 2009 exhibition booth
C23 hall on the sixth showcase its industry-leading standard and customized CMOS
sensor. Cypress's image sensor business unit general manager Georges Hiltrop
said: "We are very pleased to see our new image sensor HAS-2 is equipped with AK500pro Proba-2 satellite
launch. HAS2 showed Cypress leading R & D performance CMOS image sensor, so
as to meet the customer's most challenging applications requirements. Cypress's
STAR-250 anti-radiation image sensor was originally developed for a satellite
communication link between the light and development. At present it is mainly
used for the sun sensor applications. The device has a 512 x 512 pixels (25 ?m).
STAR-250 sensor for space applications, in line with EAS, European Space
Components Coordination (ESCC) standard, and is now commercially available.
Cypress in the field of CMOS image sensors for space has the core technology,
widely used, such as star tracking, hyperspectral instrument, Earth observation,
the sun sensor and scientific applications. Numerous European Space project has
proven its high performance CMOS image sensors. These include: TeamSat, XMM,
Mars Express, PROBA-1, ROCKVISS (ISS), Columbus and GOCE. In addition to the EAS
program, the Cypress is also involved in several other space organizations, CMOS
image sensors, space applications projects. Project for On Board Autonomy
(Proba) satellite is in orbit, the EAS technology demonstration projects as part
of the project aims to test innovative technologies. In-orbit technology
demonstration is the final part of the development ladder. The need for new
technology products displayed in the track, Digimaster
II especially when the user requires a flight history or adopt new
technologies will lead to high-risk time. In-orbit space station and other means
of delivery through the demonstration, or as a dedicated small satellite Proba
that experiments on to achieve. Proba was born from the opportunity to increase
the flight test. EAS Proba satellites are the smallest satellites ever launched,
but they did have a significant impact on space technology. Proba-2 is the
second satellite in the series, Proba-1 from eight years of successful
experience. Proba-2 equipped with a total of 17 new technologies and four
scientific experiments. Cypress's image sensor technology demonstrations and
scientific experiments, including: * Development of a new SELEX Galileo's
planetary tracking device, using HAS2 image sensor, in preparation for
BepiColombo mission.
* TNO's research and development of a number of solar
tracker, using the STAR-250 image sensor.
* An extreme-ultraviolet telescope
(SWAP) of scientific equipment, the use of HAS2 image sensor, it will in a very
narrow band observed corona. Supported by the Royal Observatory of Belgium de
Lige Space Center is the lead agency of the trial, and Cypress and other
companies together constitute the team of industrial partners.
